Hope you all had a well deserved break over the Christmas holidays. We’d like to say a big Happy New year from the whole Bris Arts team. Here’s a short post to let you know about some of our projects coming up in 2015.
For the month of February we will travelling to Olinda, Brazil for a study trip. During our trip we will be experiencing the Carnival music of Pernambuco first hand and joining in the procession. Stay tuned to our social networking sites Facebook and Twitter for photos, videos and blogs!
Late March/Early April will see the return of Jon Hardeman and his popular Afro-Brazilian singing workshops at Hamilton House. All those who have attended before will remember how great they were, we’re looking forward to seeing you all there again! Also around that time Jackson Lapes will be re-starting the Pandeiro workshops at our Mivart St studios. Did someone say Bristol Pandeiro Orchestra?
In late Spring/Early Summer we are keen to welcome back Mariana Pinho and Simone Sou from Gandaia Arts for a continuation of the Yemanja-Yamuna project. This year it will be extended to include Xango and Krishna amongst other Gods and Deities. We are currently working on this project and hope to be able to announce details soon. Last years event was a great success and this years will almost be certainly be even bigger and better!
This is a good year for Bristol as we have been awarded European Green Capital 2015. We are putting together a package of workshops for schools including: Spoken word, Animation, Puppetry and Music all based around the themes of recycling and green living. Stay tuned for details!
As normal we will be continuing to add to our range of workshops that we currently offer to schools and businesses. Please read all about it on our website and contact us to find out more.
Have a great year!
