United Beatz – Bristol Youth Bloco

Thanks to funding from Arts Council England we have started a group for young people in Bristol who want to learn percussion or dance. As this group is specifically for young people, they have decided the name of the group – United Beatz. Using traditional Brazilian carnival instruments, we will be teaching the group a fusion of music and dance, ranging from styles such as Samba and Reggae to Dancehall and HipHop. In addition to performing at Carnivals and Festivals across Bristol, as part of this project the group will also have the opportunity to perform with some of the most experienced and talented Brazilian musicians in the UK.

We are incredibly excited about the opportunities provided by this project, and can’t wait to get Bristol’s young people drumming and dancing! Not only will this group provide a way for local young people to get involved in Brazilian music and dance, it will also be an incredible addition to Bristol’s growing Carnival Arts scene. We are hoping to create a group that will be sustainable and provide long-term benefit to the community and it’s young people.

Weekly rehearsals will be held each Wednesday from 18th March through to VYBE Festival on 25th July.

Percussion rehearsals are held from 6 – 8pm at the Trinity Centre, Trinity Road, Bristol, Avon BS2 0NW

Dance rehearsals are held from 7:30 – 9pm at City Academy, Russell Town Avenue, Avon, Bristol BS5 9JH
